Mission Statement and Philosophy

Canyon Lake Community Church Preschool is a part of the overall ministry of Canyon Lake Community Church and exists as an outreach to the community to provide quality, Christ-centered child care and early childhood education by partnering with families to foster spiritual, emotional, social, physical and cognitive development in children within a safe and nurturing Christian environment. Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it”

We believe that God created each child unique in their needs, interests, personalities, gifts, talents, learning styles and development. Teachers must carefully observe students in order to customize the curriculum and individualize lesson plans, based on instructional goals for each child. The goal of the early childhood program is to partner with parents, caregivers and the community to foster the development of the whole child (spiritual, physical, social, emotional and cognitive)

Core Values

We believe that young children:

Need to learn about the Bible and God’s unconditional love through Jesus.

Require small group sizes and teacher-to-child ratios to feel safe and nurtured.

Have vulnerabilities, requiring continuous supervision and the implementation & enforcement of appropriate safety measures.

Learn best in an environment that fosters hands-on, active exploration.

Need stability and familiarity including routines, classroom procedures, a predictable daily-schedule and culturally sensitive learning materials.

Thrive academically in multi-sensory, center-based learning environments.

Learn best when they are intrinsically motivated – activities are relevant and they are engaged and having fun!

Need opportunities for solitude as well as cooperative play.

Become creative thinkers and problem-solvers through creative arts and brain-based teaching.

Need to be taught pro-social behavior through appropriate limits and positive discipline.
