Sharing the Gospel with your child

As a Christian parent, there is no greater joy than introducing your child to Christ and having the confidence that they recognize Him as their Lord and Savior.

But often, we feel inadequate to share the truth of the Gospel with our kids. As the primary discipler of your children, we want you to have the resources you need to confidently share your faith with your children and prepare them to make a personal faith commitment to Jesus.

Understanding the Gospel

Read the following Scriptures for a proper understanding of the Gospel:

  • John 3:16
  • 1 Corinthians 15.3-4
  • Romans 10:9
  • Ephesians 2:8-9

Define the Gospel:

When we talk about the Gospel and sharing the Gospel with your kids, we are referring to what Jesus has accomplished in His life, death and resurrection. The word “gospel” simply means “good news,” and from a biblical perspective it is the message of salvation. Sharing the Gospel with our kids means helping them understand that God created everything good, but sin made everything bad. As humans we are born sinners, and our sin separates us from God. But God sent Jesus to live the perfect, sinless life we could never live and took our place by dying on the cross for our sins. Three days later Jesus rose from the dead validating His victory over sin and death. The Bible says that anyone who puts their trust in Jesus and His death and resurrection will be forgiven and receive eternal life.
